After getting injured in a car accident in 1997 Mia began the practice of yoga at 8 Limbs in Seattle. She found yoga significantly reduced her back pain and found that her focus and concentration began to improve as well. Mia went on to obtain her certification in 2000 at Samadhi Studios in Seattle studying under Kathleen Hunt and Erik Ovrid. She has since studied with a variety of innovative Yoga masters including Edward Clark of Tripsichore in London, Anna Forrest of Forrest yoga and Katerina Wen and Andre Lappa of Universal Yoga. “Like my teachers, my approach originates from tradition but evolves independently. I strive to provide an atmosphere that will open up new possibilities for my students. My goal is to build a person’s confidence in their own abilities. I combine teachings to include aspects of anatomy, bio-energetics and philosophy. Through discovering our own innate wisdom we learn to dismantle the invisible constraints put upon us as adults in the world. It is remarkable what assumptions are made about the limitations of our own abilities. I seek to challenge these assumptions and assist my students in creating their own unique approach to consciousness through physical exploration and personal dedication”. |
