The MELT Method (MELT) is a self-treatment technique that helps people get out and stay out of chronic pain. When pain becomes chronic, the body’s natural state of stability and balance declines. When a body isn’t stable, it can’t be efficiently mobile – meaning you can’t fully reap the benefits of being active. By learning how to MELT, you can learn to actively partake in decreasing stress in your own body so it doesn’t accumulate and cause symptoms that sap your energy and aggravate injuries.
Equipment is provided in class, and participants only need to dress to be comfortable while barefoot or wearing socks. MELT Method® is safe and appropriate for all fitness and ability levels.
Participants utilize foam rollers and and hand-foot treatment balls to experience benefits similar to therapeutic massage.
MELT was created by Sue Hitzmann, a nationally recognized educator, manual therapist, exercise physiologist, and founding member of the Fascial Research Society. She developed MELT in the process of developing “homework” for her clients that would have effective, lasting results.
