Nia
Nia is a sensory-based movement practice that leads to health, wellness and fitness. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind and spirit. Nia brings together three distinctive art forms in one dynamic, sweat-drenched workout: the expressiveness of dance, the power and explosiveness of martial arts, and the wisdom of the healing arts. Together, they deliver an intense workout that is freer and more expressive than any other group fitness format.
Every class offers a unique combination of moves that correspond with the main areas of the body: the base, core and the upper extremities. All Nia movements are adaptable and can be personalized for any level of fitness and agility. Classes are taught barefoot and will encourage you to maximize body efficiency and teach you to consciously move in a gentler way. Wear comfortable clothes that allow a full range of movement. No prior training is necessary–anyone who can move can practice Nia.
