Yoga
Yoga offers each student a challenge while feeling safe, focused and lighthearted. With attention to breath, great care is taken to assure that the student maintains full control of his/her body while moving through the poses. Based on principles of being present and honoring one’s individual strengths and limitations, our classes offer increased balance, flexibility, well-being and transformation. Yoga is an individual experience while in a group setting.
Yoga mats are provided and classes are always done barefoot. Community Fitness offers three types of yoga classes:
Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa flow classes incorporate vinyasas between each pose. Students use their breath as a compass and flow dynamically from pose to pose, generating heat and energy in the body. All level classes are suitable for any experience and cover a variety of poses. For Level 2 classes, some familiarity with yoga is best. Classes include forward bends, standing poses, arm and hand balances, inversions and backbends with flowing vinyasas between each pose.
Hatha Flow
This freeing style of yoga allows students to breathe deeply and get a full awareness of each pose before gently transitioning into another pose. Great care is taken to assure that the student maintains full control of his/her body while moving through the practice. This is an excellent class for all levels.
Restorative
A light-hearted class focusing on restoring the muscles used in our traditional yoga classes. Leave this class with your shoulders, hips, hamstrings, and low back feeling longer and open, ready to take on the coming week.
