Featured Couple: Krista & Steven

“The couple that sweats together, stays together.”

For the month of February, we’ll be featuring the Lovebirds of Community Fitness … those couples whose benches are always parallel in BodyPump or who spend Saturday mornings sharing Cycling stats. Whether their go-to is cutthroat competition or friendly encouragement, they’ll tell you there’s something truly special about working out with the person you love.

Now introducing couple #3 … Krista & Steven! 

Krista & Steven

How long have you been together? 

We’ve been together for 3.5 years and met in Boston through mutual friends. We started working out right when we first started dating with bike rides, running, and hiking. It was part of both of our routines, so it seemed natural to do it together.

What are your favorite Community Fitness classes? 

We have much more motivation in the morning (generally), so we’re usually at the 6am class together: Molly’s Pedal & Pulse, Josh’s Tabata, and Amy’s Tabata. When we are around during the weekend, we enjoy (suffer through) Tricia and Heather’s cycle classes.

What do you like about working out together? 

We like working out together because it keeps us accountable. Waking up at 5am is slightly easier when someone else is counting on you.  We are getting married this summer! Having an active partner makes staying in shape much easier and more fun.

How would you describe your in-class dynamic? 

I (Krista) ask Steve a few days before if he’s up for a class (before he is tired, sore, etc.), so he’s committed. Steve is really competitive, so he encourages me to give it my all in classes, rather than just showing up.

What do you like to do together outside of class? 

During the summer we are usually in the mountains hiking and backpacking. The winter is spent with the occasional ski trip, cooking together, and spending time with friends. We have a 2-year-old dog, so we walk or run with him daily.
