For the month of February, we’ll be featuring the Lovebirds of Community Fitness … those couples whose benches are always parallel in BodyPump or who spend Saturday mornings sharing Cycling stats. Whether their go-to is cutthroat competition or friendly encouragement, they’ll tell you there’s something truly special about working out with the person you love.
Now introducing couple #1 … Peter & Mari!
How long have you been together?
We’ve been together 45 years, and married for 40!
When did you start working out together?
We started working out in Cycle class in January 2015 to get in shape for a cycling trip with friends in France. We trained all year at Community Fitness to prepare!
What are your favorite Community Fitness classes?
We love the spin classes on Tuesday/Thursday at 6:00am with Kristen and Sunday at 8:00am with Tricia.
What do you like about working out together?
We love getting up early together, doing something healthy and positive together, and going out for coffee afterwards. It’s a good start to the day. We really also like to start the day with an hour of fun music. We love music and the playlists help keep us old folks on the beam with current tunes. We feel that our early morning workouts have been a really positive addition to out relationship.
How would you describe your in-class dynamic?
We encourage each other to work hard and like to share our total calories burned afterwards.
What do you like to do together outside of class?
Everything, but especially sailing and taking care of our three granddaughters.
