Featured Couple: Zoe & Juniper

“The couple that sweats together, stays together.”

For the month of February, we’ll be featuring the Lovebirds of Community Fitness … those couples whose benches are always parallel in BodyPump or who spend Saturday mornings sharing Cycling stats. Whether their go-to is cutthroat competition or friendly encouragement, they’ll tell you there’s something truly special about working out with the person you love.

Now introducing couple #2 … Zoe & Juniper!

How long have you been together?

We’ve been together since 2003, and were married in 2006.

What are your favorite Community Fitness classes?

Jennifer Cepeda’s class is a lot of fun with good music and good physical dancing that makes for a really hard workout. It motivates you and keeps you moving.

What do you like about working out together?

It helps us feel good and it is fun to watch each other go for it. I like dancing because it’s a workout where I can really enjoy the music and forget that I am working out.

How would you describe your in-class dynamic?

Mostly just smile at each other and try to make each other laugh. It is hard for me to compete with a professional dancer, so competition is not a part of it. I just do my own thing and try to enjoy myself. The more smiles the better!

What do you like to do together outside of class?

Zoe and I have a visual art and dance company called zoe | juniper. We just had an installation at the Frye Art Museum and are working on a new dance performance that will open in September 2016 in New Orleans and here in Seattle in October at On the Boards Performance space in Lower Queen Anne.
