Brian Charlton
“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.” Henry Ford
Brian returned to the Northwest in 2010 after a decade of living in New York. The city’s fast-paced environment provided a counterpoint to reconnecting with his yoga practice, which started right here in the North West. Brian received his teacher training from Sonic Yoga, a studio rooted in the influence of Shiva Rea and Dharma Mittra, but has most recently adopted the principals of Edward Clark and his Tripsichore.
Brian’s yoga classes focus on achieving a balance between breath and movement. He helps students achieve this balance through intentional, conscious communication. Precise verbal cues allow his students to practice by ear, giving them an opportunity to find alignment from within. The emphasis throughout his class is simple: yoga is not about what those around you are doing, or even what the teacher is teaching. It’s about finding a practice, a variation of a posture or a state of mind that fits you.
A little known fact about Brian is that he brews his own beer!
