If you haven’t already had the privilege of trying Melissa (a.k.a, Missy) Smith Ross’ Barre class, this your chance to workout with an instructor who spent years in the fitness industry working with celebrities in LA! Missy moved to Seattle in March, and with her impressive background in dance and fitness, we are thrilled to have her expertise here at Community Fitness! Read on to learn more about Missy…
When you aren’t at the barre at Community Fitness, what do you do?
I am new to Seattle, so I have been spending a lot of time discovering what the city has to offer.
You mentioned in your bio that you started in dance. What fueled your transition to fitness?
I love movement — any type of movement. I really enjoy getting your body to do things you never thought possible!
What was it like working with celebrities in Los Angeles?
I loved working in LA. It was so fun being on movie and TV sets and seeing everything that goes into making them.
What is something not many people know about you?
I grew up hunting with my dad in Northern Arizona.
What’s your favorite way to spend a day or night off?
I enjoy exploring new restaurants and long dinners with my husband.
If you could instantly master any skill/superpower/talent, what would it be?
I’d be totally into flying.
What is one of your biggest passions in life?
Obviously, I’m passionate about fitness, but I am also passionate about my family and friends. Without them, life would just be empty.
Any good movies/books/bands/foods that you’d recommend to the CFit community?
I love documentaries. I just watched “A Ballerina’s Tale,” Misty Copeland’s biography, and I highly recommend it.
What do you want people to know about your classes?
They are challenging and fast-paced. I love to challenge your body and mind to work in ways it hasn’t before. If you took the time out of your busy day to workout, I want to make every second count!
