Meet Your Instructor: Olivia Newport

We are always thrilled to add new talent to the pool of Community Fitness instructors, and Olivia is no exception! Come check out her Barre class on Fridays at 8:30am at our 65th St. Studio, and read on to learn more about Olivia and her classes!

When you aren’t at Community Fitness, what do you do?

When I am not at Cfit I am exploring Washington with my husband! We love discovering new restaurants, hiking trails, and biking to neighborhood farmers markets. I also enjoy finding new ingredients and recipes and cooking with my husband. We usually set off the fire alarm, but we are working on our culinary skills! Right now I am training for my 3rd half marathon, so running has been filling the rest of my time!

How did you discover Barre, and what do you love most about it?

I have been dancing all of my life, and ballet was always a favorite. I discovered Barre when I moved to Seattle and fell in love with the group fitness ballet format! I find choreography is one of my favorite forms of creativity, which makes class-planning fun. My favorite thing about barre is the mind-body connection. Correct form is so critical, you are forced to keep your mind active while your legs shake!

If you could have any skill/knowledge/superpower, what would it be?

If I had to pick a superpower it would be flying … how fun would that be?!

What are you most passionate about in life?

I am most passionate about people. Being around and working with others gives me energy and joy. Building relationships and community is such a beautiful thing, and I am so thankful I have a job where I get to be around fabulous people all day!

What do you want people to know about your classes?

Get ready to sweat! I enjoy incorporating a good amount of cardio into my barre classes 🙂
