With concern for our clients, staff and instructors, Community Fitness continues to take steps to keep our gym safe in response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
What are we doing to reduce risk of COVID-19.
- Classes will be capped at approximately 50% of normal max capacity limits, starting Monday March 16.
- We now have a “no touch” class sign-in system.
- Alcohol hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes and sterile disposable gloves are available throughout our studios.
- Staff regularly cleaning high touch points such as door handles and plates, cabinet and drawer pulls, faucet and flushing mechanisms, light switches, counter tops, benches, shelves, pens and more with a 60% alcohol sanitizing solution.
- Yoga: On March 3, we removed all yoga props from our studios including blankets, bolsters, straps and yoga blocks and are encouraging clients to bring their own yoga mats.
- Strength: All traditional “Circuit Training” classes have been modified to individual workout stations.
- Cycle: Extra space is now being provided between each mat and cycle.
- Barre: An additional 10-12 linear feet of ballet bar is being installed at our 65th St studio to provide more spaces between clients.
- Dance: We’re asking all clients to spread out equally and utilize our entire 2,500 square foot studio space.
When attending classes at Community Fitness, we’re asking all clients to follow two simple procedures.
- Wash and/or sanitize your hands as you ENTER and EXIT our studios.
- Clean/sanitize your equipment BEFORE and AFTER use.
Our janitorial staff clean 7 nights a week and our studio floors are wet-mopped with a sanitizing solution every other day. In addition to these longstanding custodial routines, our desk staff are now sanitizing all high volume touch points in our studios throughout the day.
You can help by staying informed and practicing good hygiene. Please stay home and find a sub for your shift/class if you’ve been running a fever or are exhibiting signs of a fever.
Our 60% alchohol hand sanitizer is available near the client check-in stations, on lobby desks and inside the studios. You’ll find sanitizing equipment spray and sanitizing wipes inside our studios and antibacterial soap in bathrooms. Hand washing remains one of the best ways to prevent the spread of germs.
How to Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
Coronaviruses, including COVID-19, spread between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) via coughing or sneezing. It may also spread by touching a surface or object with the virus on it. The same good health habits that prevent other viruses like the flu, also prevent the spread of COVID-19 and decrease the risk of getting sick:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, with 60% alcohol, if soap and water are not available.
- Cough into a tissue or your elbow (not your hand), then throw tissue away and wash your hands.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick and stay home when you are sick.
- Consult your healthcare provider if you have health conditions that put you at increased risk.
