Barre

Barre classes use a combination of exercises  inspired by ballet and other disciplines like yoga and Pilates. The barre is used as a prop to balance while doing exercises that focus on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles) combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements.”

Light hand weights, resistance bands, yoga straps, exercise balls are often incorporated into the choreography.

Equipment Needed:
What To Wear: Barre can be done with bare feet or barre socks. Wear comfortable, fitted clothing that won’t get in the way of floor work, stretching, bending etc.
All equipment in-studio is provided.
At Home: Grab a mat & clear a space on the floor. Use a chair for your barre, a counter top or wall to lean on to hold your balance. Equipment typically used includes gliding disks, resistance bands, a barre ball & light weights.

Barre at Community Fitness

HIdden for now

I began my membership with Community Fitness about 3 years ago, prior to the pandemic, because I found out my favorite dance instructor was there, Medora Cesarano. Honestly, the joy and ‘frolic’ that exists in just that one hour is THE MOST addictive and magical experience I’ve ever had the pleasure of stumbling into.
