101 Beginner Fitness Classes
Class Descriptions
Dance Classes 101
Learn or refine your techniques for a dance genre (DancePowered or Dance Club). The workout will include a warm-up followed by reviewing different moves to practice and learn a routine and get a great workout. The repetition and instruction will provide a chance to really master the moves so you could attend the weekly class if you want. If you are looking for a class to learn, get moving, and have fun – this is it!
Vinyasa Yoga 101
Learn or refine your Vinyasa Yoga Practice in this foundations class. Vinyasa is a yoga style that synchronizes breath with a flowing sequence of poses, often moving smoothly from one posture to the next. Typical moves include sun salutations, downward dog, upward dog, warrior poses and various balance and stretching poses, contributing to toning and building flexibility. This class will move through a traditional Vinyasa yoga program while spending more time in certain movements and poses so you can feel more confident and comfortable in a supportive environment.
Barre 101 (Flexibility, Toning & Strength)
Learn or refine your barre techniques to enhance your flexibility, tone your muscles and build strength. Barre uses small isolated movements that draws inspiration from ballet, high intensity training, weightlifting, yoga and pilates. The class will start with a warm-up followed by reviewing exercises that are part of our typical barre program. This class is done without an actual barre and instead creatively utilizes a variety of different props (including the walls) for exercises. The pace will be slightly slower so the instructor can spend time helping people optimize their technique to keep you safe and get the most out of each move (hello core muscles!).
Total Body Tabata 101 (Strength & Cardio)
Learn or refine your techniques in building strength, enhancing your core, managing weights, and tackling cardio exercises. This class will start with a warm-up followed by reviewing various exercises including tabata that uses timed intervals of exercise. It will intentionally use a slower pace than our other strength and cardio classes such as Tabata or Total Body Conditioning to practice techniques and learn how to adapt different exercises to the level that works best for you. This class will allow you to feel comfortable participating in any of our other strength & cardio classes if you want while getting a great workout!
BODYPUMP™ 101
Learn or refine your BODYPUMP™ techniques to build that strength you are looking for. BODYPUMP™ uses a high rep, lower weight through a combination of barbells, hand weights, and other techniques to tone, strengthen, and condition your body. This class will review the typical BODYPUMP™ program at a slower pace to allow more instruction on technique so you are being safe and getting muscle bang for your buck.
